What are cookie files?

A Cookie is a small file containing letters and numbers that is downloaded to your computer when visiting a website. Cookie files are used by many websites, and they can do a variety of things. For example, they remember your preferences, save what you have placed in your shopping cart, and they also count the number of the people who visit the website.

How do the provisions regarding the cookie files affect me?

You will come across information about Cookie files and similar technologies on most websites, and they may have the option to choose how some Cookie files are used. For example, the Website may request your consent to use a Cookie file in order to provide a specific service, such as remembering your preferences.

The persons using Cookie files must provide clear and comprehensive information regarding the way they use Cookie files and ensure that, for each Cookie file that is not essential to their website, they provide you with the option to approve or deny the use of such a Cookie file on their device.

Using Cookie files by the Controller

The Controller uses Cookies via the Website. The information collected by Cookie files is used to properly optimize the Website, as well as for statistical and advertising purposes.

Cookie files record the Website User's activity by recognizing the Device and ensuring that the Website is displayed in a manner optimized to the User's individual preferences. The Cookie files that have been used on the Website are safe for the Devices of the Users accessing the Controller's Website. It is not possible for any dangerous or malicious software to get into the User’s Devices through the Website.

The Controller uses the following types of Cookie files:

a. Session cookies: These files are stored on a User's Device and remain there until the User leaves the Website or closes their web browser. The stored information is then permanently deleted from the Device's memory. The Session Cookie files do not download any personal data or confidential information from the User's Device.
b. Persistent cookies: Files of this type are stored on the User's Device for the time which has been specified in the file parameters, or until they are manually deleted by the User. Ending a given browser's session or turning the Device off does not delete Persistent Cookies from the Device. The Persistent Cookie files do not download any personal data or confidential information from the User's Device.
c. Third-party cookies: This is information coming from external servers, e.g., advertising or navigation service providers (maps or search engines). Third-party Cookies may evaluate the efficiency of advertisements, and design and format any advertising activities, in accordance with the preferences of the User.

The following types of Cookie files may be present on a Website:

a. Strictly Necessary/Essential Cookies - These Cookie files are essential in order to make it possible for the User to move around the Website and use its features, such as providing access to the secured areas of the Website. Without these Cookie files, no services can be provided. These Cookie files do not collect any information identifying the User.
b. Performance Cookies - These Cookie files collect information on how a User uses the Website. For example, which pages they visit the most often and whether they receive any error messages on the Website. These Cookie files do not collect any information identifying the User. All information collected by these files is aggregated and, therefore, anonymous. These Cookies are only used to improve how well the Website works.
c. Functionality Cookies - These Cookie files allow the Website to remember the choices made by the User (such as their username, language, or the region in which the User is located), and to ensure improved, more personal functions. These Cookie files can be used to remember the changes made by the User to font size and font type, as well any other parts of the Website that can be adjusted to the User's individual needs. The information collected by these Cookie files is anonymous and cannot track the User’s browsing activity on any other websites.
d. Advertising Cookies - These Cookie files are used for displaying advertisements that are tailored to the User and their interests. They are also used to limit the number of times an advertisement is displayed and to measure the efficiency of advertising campaigns. They are usually placed by advertising networks with the prior consent of the Website operator. They remember that a User has visited a given website, and they share that information with other organizations, such as advertisers. Targeting or Advertising Cookies will quite often be linked to a Website function that is provided by another organization.
